Denise Lane is the Senior Vice President of IP at Olympus. For 25+ years, she has litigated, grown, managed, leveraged, and traded IP. Denise spent the first 11 years of her career prosecuting and litigating patents at an Am Law 100 firm, where she led trial teams in complex patent litigations involving medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and software. For the next 14 years, she focused on in-house IP strategy, using IP in practical ways to grow business segments. From 2022-2024, Denise functioned as the chief of staff to Boston Scientific’s general counsel, driving global Legal & Compliance efforts to deliver best-in-class strategic, financial, technological, and project-management solutions. In 2024, Denise transitioned back to her IP roots, joining Olympus to lead more than 130 exceptional intellectual-property professionals around the globe. Together, they collaborate with R&D and other business partners to strengthen and utilize the IP protecting Olympus’ incredible medical-device products. Denise received her JD from Boston University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. In her free time, Denise stays active with her husband and three sons, reads 100+ books per year, and writes epic out-of-office messages.
