Trained as Engineer with a PhD in physics (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology-EPFL and University of Geneva), he continues his career in the US (Stanford University then Conductus Inc, a then Stanford spinoff based in Silicon Valley) where he is also involved in evaluating the commercial potential of new technologies for a venture capital firm. He comes back to Switzerland to initiate and manage Unitec, the Office of Technology Transfer of the University of Geneva, the Geneva University Hospitals and the Geneva University of Applied Sciences.
Laurent Miéville is a Past President of the Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals – ASTP. He has served on innovative selection committees from Institute Pasteur (Paris), Canceropôle (Lyon) , the French National Research Agency (Paris) and also been active as board member of Certified Licensing Professionals Inc (CLP – Washington). He more recently co-authored with Prof. Georges Haour of IMD Business school a book about technology transfer “ From Science to Business”. In parallel to his TT activities, Laurent has been serving as a part-time legislator in the Parliament of his home State (Vaud) where he was the acting President in 2023-2024.
