Michael Atlass has been in IP Law and Practice since becoming a registered patent attorney (Reg. No. 30,606). Graduated from University of Miami, BS in Computer Studies, JD in Law.
Translated inventions from inventors to patent offices in numerous software hardware and related technology fields until changing direction. After providing the first Open Source licensing advice to Unisys, was recruited by the Open Source Legal team at Qualcomm, where it became important to also cover Standards and IP-related policy matters.
As IP counsel for Qualcomm, Michael serves on the INCITS Executive Board, in several ANSI policy advocacy groups, and represent Qualcomm interests in many
standards organizations, consortia, and SIGs. Active in the AIPLA, ABA, and
IPO organizations, in leadership positions of committees in all three, including the ABA’s ADR committee where Michael’s first project was to institute two webinars regarding the potential for the European Union to impose its own ADR regulations for licensing Standards Essential Patents.
