Tim Pohlmann founded IPlytics and led it as CEO for a decade. When LexisNexis acquired the company in 2022, he became Managing Director of LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions Americas, steering sales, customer success, and marketing while helping U.S. clients make clearer innovation decisions.

His work with standards-essential patents (SEPs) began during his doctoral research in 2009. Seeking transparent SEP intelligence, he launched IPlytics in 2014, creating the first platform to integrate SEP declarations, patent-pool data, and technical-standards contributions. The solution now underpins SEP licensing, pool participation, portfolio management, and competitive analysis for standards-driven industries. Pohlmann earned a doctorate with highest honors from the Berlin Institute of Technology in 2012, then served as a post-doctoral researcher and consultant at the Law & Economics of Patents Group, CERNA, MINES ParisTech. He has delivered empirical studies for the European Commission, WIPO, and the German government, and is a recognized speaker on SEPs, FRAND licensing, patent pools, and advanced patent analytics. An adjunct lecturer on innovation economics, he contributes frequently to outlets such as Managing IP, IPWatchdog, and IAM Magazine.
